Rocket League Empty Rocket League

Post by Smakx Thu Jul 16, 2015 2:04 am

Rocket League is a competitive soccer/football game made by Psyonix that is played with cars and a giant ball and is available for Playstation 4 and PC via Steam for $19.99. Rocket League is the sequel to the 2008 Playstation 3 game Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars.

Rocket League is a fast paced and highly entertaining combination of driving and soccer. The controls are simple to learn but more advanced moves are difficult to master. The tutorials help acquaint new players with the basic moves, and everyone should start there. There is gas, reverse, hand break, turbo and jump. You begin with a small amount of boost and can pick up more on the track. The jump button can be used to double-jump, and the second jump can be aimed and also combined with boost. The game should be played with a decent controller, Xbox 360 or Playstation controllers are recommended. The game mimics some sports game tropes in places and shines with slick production values. The game play is solid with tight controls and great physics. Matches play out in a matter of a few minutes and are short bursts of intensity. I am having a lot of fun with Rocket League and find myself semi-addicted watching streams and videos and telling myself "one more round" over and over.

Cars and accessories are unlocked as you play, but are all cosmetic. There is no pay to win and all cars perform identically. The game supports cross platform multiplayer (PS4/PC) and friends can form parties to play the default 3 v 3 matches, or select 1 v 1,  2 v 2, all the way up to 4 v 4. You can also join random pickup games, or play against ai in season mode or practice. Additionally there are local split screen multiplayer options available. See the videos below or watch some streams on twitch linked above to get a better idea of what this game is all about.
