Talisman DE is a digital adaptation by Nomad Games of an original board game published by Fantasy Flight Games. Talisman is a classic fantasy game that successfully combines tropes and mechanics from more complex roll-playing games with an easy to learn traditional roll and move board game. The game has received media attention in popular culture movies and t.v. shows and is considered a "gateway game" into the world of hobbyist board gaming.

In Talisman DE one to six players each choose one of the 14 characters available to play (with several more available as dlc). These playable characters cover the gambit of typical fantasy archetypes such as wizards, rogues and warriors and each feature unique starting stats and abilities. Players take turns rolling dice and moving their character in either direction to land on board spaces that trigger specific actions, such as combating a beast, experiencing a random encounter or buying items at the shop. The players work to improve their character's stats and abilities by gaining equipment, followers, and other rewards reaped through plying encounters. The game board is layed out in an outer ring, an inner ring and a center region. Each player's eventual goal it to reach the center region and win the battle for the "Crown of Command", thus winning the game. But to get there the player will have to first become powerful enough to beat the trials required to pass from the outer ring to the inner, and than eventually to the center. Many expansions are available for the game as in-app dlc purchases, such as additional playable characters, add on pieces to the game board, alternate central region game boards, additional monsters, spells, traps and variations and additions to the game's original rules.

The digital adaptation of Talisman is beautifully rendered and realized. The game emulates the tactile motions of moving game pieces on a board and rolling dice. The graphics, music and sound design are top notch and were obviously created by people who really care about this game. Talisman DE also features a rule book, card gallery and a fully interactive tutorial to assist new players in learning the basics of the game. The playtime of the game can easily run in excess of an hour depending on the number of players and the expansions being used. The digital version supports up to six players utilizing cross-platform multiplayer and only the host of the game must own an expansion for all of the other players to also have access to it. Additionally there is a cut-down single player version available that includes a few playable characters and some puzzle quest challenges to help new players learn the game and mechanics of particular characters called Talisman Prologue.
